The gentle rain taps lightly on the window and the cool chill sweeps in through the open door as I sit and ponder the meaning of a slow day. We cherish these moments of serenity as our bustling lives make them feel more scarce and thus precious. So we cherish this time and take it all in with the help of a cosy blanket and steaming cup of tea.
Earlier, when the sun was out in earnest and warming my back while I used its rays to dry my hair and laundry at the same time I felt an appreciation for the things we often take for granted. As I hung each piece of laundry I thought about what I did and where I went while wearing each piece of clothing. The stories both grand and minute are held within the warp and weft of each thread. When we care for our clothes, we care for each of these stories too. Ones that can be passed down along with the garment so a new wearer can add to its rich history or change it entirely.
When we invest the time to choose well, and shop with purpose we find that every item we bring home holds more value than if we were to rush our decisions. In doing so our carefully crafted realities flow with us and the changing seasons of our lives.
So shop slow, be mindful, and cherish the things we have. We’re all stories in the end, so let’s make it a good one.
